SMS Bill Alerts vs Web Lookup: What Actually Works
Competing sites often imply you can pull a full bill with a consumer ID on an “official” mirror. Be careful: web duplicate bills are driven by the 14-digit reference number on the PITC bill system. For a quick amount/due-date ping on the official SMS channel, send pitc <reference> to 8334. MEPCODBill only forwards your reference to bill.pitc.com.pk — we do not display or download the bill ourselves.

Two different jobs
Official SMS ping
Format: pitc <14-digit ref> to 8334. Expect amount / due-date style info from the official channel — not a full printable PDF in the SMS itself.
Full printable bill
Needs the 14-digit reference number. Open the official PITC portal ↗ directly.
Step 1: Locate the 14-digit reference number
On a printed bill, the reference is the long numeric code used for banking and web lookup (often grouped visually, e.g. 12 34567 8901234). Save it in your phone notes. Consumer ID / account labels on the bill are useful for office counters but are not a reliable substitute for the standard public web bill flow.
Step 2: Try the official SMS pattern
- Open Messages on your mobile.
- Type
pitc, a space, then your 14-digit reference with no dashes. - Send to 8334.
- Wait for the official automated reply. Do not reply with CNIC, passwords, or OTP to unknown numbers.
Networks and campaign availability can vary. If SMS fails, fall back to the web reference lookup. (Complaint SMS to 8118 is a different service — see the complaint guide.)
Step 3: Longer-term SMS / email registration portals
DISCOs sometimes offer web forms to register a mobile or email against a reference for recurring alerts. Use only links from the official DISCO/PITC properties. After registering, keep the same reference number you will use for banking apps.
Step 4: Pay using the reference, not a random wallet request
In JazzCash, Easypaisa, or bank apps, choose the MEPCO (or correct DISCO) biller, enter the 14-digit reference, and confirm the fetched amount matches your SMS or official bill. Never send money to a personal mobile number because an SMS threatened disconnection.
What we will not claim
- We are not the official MEPCO website.
- We cannot show bills by consumer ID alone when the PITC web flow requires the reference number.
- We do not store or regenerate your duplicate bill PDF — PITC does.
- We do not operate 8334 or guarantee SMS delivery on every network.
What can go wrong
- Trusting a third-party site that promises “official” consumer-ID bill downloads.
- Confusing 8334 (bill alert) with 8118 (complaint SMS).
- Replying to phishing SMS with CNIC, OTP, or wallet transfers.
- Paying a personal number after a fake disconnection threat.

Can I check my bill with consumer ID on the web?
The standard public web duplicate-bill path expects the 14-digit reference number. Do not trust sites that promise “official” consumer-ID downloads while impersonating the utility.
Is pitc … to 8334 free?
It is an official short-code style service; your mobile operator may apply normal SMS charges. The utility alert itself is not a MEPCODBill product.
SMS shows amount — why open the web bill?
SMS is great for due date and payable totals. The full statement shows units, FPA, QTA, GST, peak/off-peak, and payment history detail.
